This study-unit is intended to provide students with a theoretical and conceptual framework to aid in their evaluation of methods and solutions for various real world situations related to air pollution. It will examine the theoretical and conceptual aspects related to atmosphere emissions and the resultant degradation in air quality and will explore the standard techniques that are currently used in order to measure, in situ, the levels of certain atmospheric pollutants. The students will also be introduced to various data analysis and interpretation methods, through which they will be able to assess air quality. In addition the students will be given a general introduction to the inventorying of atmospheric emissions.
